Infants & Toddlers: Development--The Power of Touch
Honig, Alice Sterling
Early Childhood Today, v19 n5 p25-26 Mar 2005
When a baby is born, parents check for fingers and toes, and over the next few weeks remain alert to whether the baby can see and hear. When babies nurse well, parents are assured that the sense of taste and smell are fine. But what about touch? This crucial sense for babies is often overlooked. In this article, the author discusses how to ensure that the child gets the loving contact he needs. The author provides activities and some suggestions for ways that can provide comfort, promote baby's growth and boost emotional health through the power of touch.
