One School Librarian Plus Positive Attitude Equals a Quality School Library Program
Terrell, Nancy
Knowledge Quest, v40 n2 p18-23 Nov-Dec 2011
Since getting books into the hands of her students was of utmost importance to her, this author began to look at areas that took away from the time she had to work with the students. In this article, the author offers suggestions on how to have a successful school library program, regardless of reductions in budget and/or staff. She mentions that school librarians must: (1) embrace change as an opportunity to grow; (2) delegate tasks to others; (3) be prepared for anything; (4) be kind to everyone; (5) simplify and un-clutter their library; (6) get organized; (7) listen more and be flexible; (8) be prepared to say NO; (9) pace themselves; and (10) pray, get sleep, and start the day with a positive attitude.
