Choosing a College: Student Voices
Mooney, Carolyn
Chronicle of Higher Education, v53 n34 pB24 Apr 2007
Young adults applying to college these days are bombarded with information--from the institutions themselves, from well-meaning relatives and friends, from high-school counselors, from directories and news-media reports, and from a cottage industry that has spawned consultants, test-prep centers, and special Web sites. At the same time, they need reliable information on financial aid, academic work, location, campus culture, "fit," and such factors as the level of school spirit and the condition of the science labs. In this article, the author shares some students' perceptions on who or what most influences them in their decision about where to go.
