Breeding Livestock. A Unit for Teachers of Vocational Agriculture. Production Agriculture Curriculum Materials Project.

Designed to provide instructional materials for use by vocational agriculture teachers, this unit on breeding livestock contains materials for use in teaching the importance of breeding, the physiology of livestock breeding, reproductive processes, sire selection, and breeding systems. Lessons on each of these competencies contain the following: (1) a performance objective, (2) teaching-learning activities, (3) supplemental materials, and (4) a criterion-referenced measure. Suggestions for using problem-solving procedures, resource persons, field trips, audio-visual aids, and supplementary materials are outlined in the section on teaching-learning activities provided for each lesson. Transparency masters of charts, tables, and illustrations are provided in each lesson.
