Practical Design Activities for Your Technology Education Classes
Berkeihiser, Mike
Technology Teacher, v65 n5 p22-24 Feb 2006
In this article, the author relates how he and his class get involved in doing project designs within their school district every year. The author relates how they have done design projects for local townships and boroughs, non-profit organizations, Eagle Scout projects, and much more. The author relates how these activities have been such tremendous success each year because students get more excited about the activity than anything else they do and they communicate more openly, with contributions from every student. The activities give the students some very practical experience designing a building with which they are very familiar and these activities have given the technology education a great deal of press release within the building. A list of his students' successful projects is provided in this article. (Contains 4 figures.)
