FCCLA Program Tackles Youth Violence
Carpenter, Beth
Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, v98 n2 p55-56 Apr 2006
This article features "STOP (Students Taking on Prevention) the Violence," a peer-to-peer outreach initiative that empowers young people to recognize, report, and reduce the potential for youth violence. It is a national Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) program that provides young people with the attitudes, skills, and resources to address youth violence prevention. "STOP the Violence" was started when a chapter president was shot in a school shooting in Paducah, Kentucky. Trainings are available at the state level to FCCLA members and others interested in learning how to prevent violence.
