Videoconferencing Via Satellite: Opening Congress to the People. Summary Report.

Comments from several U.S. Senators and Representatives who participated in the project summarize their personal evaluations of the usefulness of satellite videoconferencing with two-way interactive television in providing a new mechanism for informed dialogue between congressmen and constituents. The new technology is described in answers to the following questions: (1) What is satellite videoconferencing? (2) Does satellite videoconferencing work? (3) Are videoconferences useful? (4) What will videoconferences cost? (5) When will satellite videoconferencing be widely available? (6) What should Congress do to ensure an operational videoconferencing system by 1980-1982?
