Purity and Epidemic Danger in German Occupied Poland during the First World War.
Weindling, Paul
Paedagogica Historica, v33 n3 p825-32 1997
Explores the efforts of the German public-health authorities to cleanse occupied areas of formerly Russian Poland of pathogenic hazards during the First World War. The program used sanitary measures and educational programs to encourage a more hygienic lifestyle. Originally sympathetic to the Jewish population, it grew increasingly anti-semitic. (MJP)
