This document consists of a teacher's resource guide, student book, and an accompanying audio component intended to help beginning-level adult English-as-a-second-language (ESL) learners gain the general language skills and cultural understanding they need to function successfully in the U.S. workplace. The lessons address the following commonly encountered workplace topics and key issues: (1) expressing personal information (filling out forms, meeting new people at work); (2) dealing with job procedures and benefits (schedules, paychecks); (3) working safely (following safety rules, reporting problems); and (4) understanding workplace culture (learning to work with others, getting a performance review). The teacher's resource guide contains the following items: (1) a program overview that lists key features of the program and its four lessons, including detailed guidelines on meeting multiple learning styles and adapting lessons to specific workplace settings; (2) lesson notes; (3) unit tests; (4) photocopy masters; and (5) answer keys. The student book contains 16 lessons, a list of the listening exercise prompts found on in the audio component, and an answer key. The audio component includes prompts for all listening activities, along with vocabulary lists and reading passages from each lesson. It provides aural reinforcement for reading comprehension, models natural speech, and helps build listening skills. (MN)
