Vernon, Ralph J.; And Others

The first seven chapters focus on the seven objectives. Chapter 1, Literature Review and Selection of Employers, concerns tasks required for determining employment requirements in two occupational safety and health occupations: Industrial Hygienists and Safety Professionals. Chapter 2, concerning selection of advisory committee and expert practitioners, development and approval of task/activity analysis survey form, and practitioner survey, describes tasks required to determine practitioner-defined knowledge and skill requirements. Chapter 3 analyzes incumbent data, while chapter 4 reports activities to correlate, merge, and consolidate data to derive job requirements. Chapter 5 reports certification requirements and makes recommendations to modify certifying procedures. Chapter 6 concerns development of behavioral objectives based on task/activity analysis and recommendation of alternate training/education routes. Chapter 7 describes development of task-oriented curricula. In chapter 7 and appendixes are associate-level curricula for occupational health and safety technicians, "certificate"/curricula for occupational health and for occupational safety, baccalaureate curriculum for industrial hygienists and safety professionals, and suggestions for occupational health and safety generalist baccalaureate curriculum and graduate-level education.
