The Cultural Gap in Literature-Based Literacy Instruction.
Barrera, Rosalinda B.
Education and Urban Society, v24 n2 p227-43 Feb 1992
Literature-based children's literacy programs usually lack cultural foundation on the part of teachers providing the instruction. A framework for a cultural base for educators addresses this cultural gap. A series of professional development activities is presented that reflects the theoretical framework and increases cultural sensitivity. (SLD)
