Over 70 historic sites, outreach programs, teaching aids, publications, and media presentations appropriate for elementary and secondary school instruction in Illinois history, government, and natural resources are listed. Items are categorized by the Illinois state department or museum which makes the information available: Illinois Department of Conservation, Illinois Department of Energy and Natural Resources, Illinois Historical Society, Illinois State Board of Education, Illinois State Museum, Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Western Illinois University. Resources include 16 historic sites and living museums; periodicals on government, Indians, pioneers, and Abraham Lincoln; slide tapes of the historic old state capitol; videotapes which explain the Illinois state government and constitution; mineral and rock collections; and booklets on the flora and fauna of Illinois.
