A Mini-Curriculum for Robotics Education.
Jones, Preston K.
This practicum report documents the development of a four-lesson multimedia program for robotics instruction for fourth and seventh grade students. The commercial film "Robot Revolution" and the videocassette tape "Robotics" were used, along with two author-developed slide/audiotape presentations and 14 overhead transparency foils. Two robots, Hero I and Robie, Sr., and 16 Apple IIe microcomputers with turtle graphics were also used. Developmental testing occurred using a group of 41 students who ranged in grade level from fourth through eighth and in ability from above average to those with specific learning disabilities. A summative evaluation indicates that the program is high in quality, leads to positive learning experiences, and is interesting. A 10-item bibliography is provided and 12 appendices provide additional information on the evaluations, the objectives of the course, and lesson plans. (EW)
