Student Perceptions of Grading Practices in Different Major Fields.
Hewitt, Barbara Newlin; Jacobs, Rick
Journal of Educational Measurement, v15 n3 p213-18 Fall 1978, 78
Undergraduate students estimated the grade-point average of a fictitious student in eight major fields. This study strongly indicated that students perceived differential grading standards, although not as accurately as had been hypothesized. Students correctly perceived that the natural sciences were graded more stringently than the humanities and social sciences. (Author/CTM)
