The author argues in this speech that one cannot expect students in the school system to know and understand the genius of Black history if the curriculum is Eurocentric, which is a residue of racism. He states that his comments are designed for the enlightenment of those who suffer from a school system that "hypocritically manipulates Black history in a way that causes a disconnection from Black students and their history." Black people must know their history and not the White interpretation of that history. Parents must challenge the school system, the curriculum, the teachers, and those who misinterpret Black history because the misinterpretation of one's history will lead to misinterpreting who one is. The author challenges the credibility of world history textbooks, including those that do not acknowledge that the Egyptians were Black people and those that are quick to emphasize that the Greeks were deemed "lovers of wisdom" because they used observation and reason, but such is also a characteristic of the Africans, who preceded Europe with thousands of years of philosophical, religious, mathematical, scientific, artistic, and medicinal knowledge.
