With various internet resources available to students, the main aim of a good university education today should not merely be to provide students with content knowledge, but rather to equip them with essential skills necessary to develop into lifelong learners. Among science educators, repeated calls have been made to promote a more holistic training of students such as equipping them with critical-thinking skills both within and outside their fields of specialization so as to help solve real-life problems. To help science undergraduates develop their epistemic beliefs, the author suggests that they should be exposed not only to various approaches in scientific research but also to research methodologies used in the social sciences. In this article, the author shares his thoughts and beliefs of his current experience learning about social science research methodologies in educational research.
