A description is provided of a course, "Nursing in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit," offered for senior-level baccalaureate degree nursing students. The first section provides information on the place of the course within the curriculum, the allotment of class time, and target student populations. The next section looks at course content in terms of major course goals, long-range objectives, and units of instruction. A list of texts and other instructional materials for the course is followed by descriptions of the nine instructional units: (1) Children Are Different; (2) Psychosocial Aspects of Pediatric Intensive Care Units; (3) Cardiovascular Disorders; (4) Pulmonary Disorders; (5) Chest X-Ray Interpretation; (6) Neurologic Disorders; (7) Renal Disorders; (8) Gastrointestinal Disorders; and (9) Instrumentation: Principles and Techniques.
