These resource magazines for K-6 educators are published to promote the teaching of science, mathematics, and technology through participatory, inquiry-based methods. Each issue provides resources and hands-on activities for educators that focus on one theme. Issues in volume 5 cover the themes of geology, math and science integration, tropical rainforests, and water, respectively. Each issue contains sections with the following information related to the issue's topic: (1) introduction to the topic area and its importance; (2) description of a highlighted teaching strategy and activity; (3) an annotated list of books with appropriate grade level indicated; (4) background information; (5) a list of video, computer, and curriculum materials available (contains a special section on inexpensive materials); and (6) 10-12 science activities with objectives, materials, and procedures sections.
