Effects of Teacher Quality Work Life in Secondary Schools on Commitment and Sense of Efficacy.
Louis, Karen Seashore
School Effectiveness and School Improvement, v9 n1 p1-27 Mar 1998
Explores how teachers' quality of working life contributes to their commitment to work and sense of efficacy in eight schools. Presents a model that ties workplace characteristics to important behaviors, attitudes, and psychological characteristics affecting teaching. Classroom observation and survey data suggest that quality-of-work-life measures are strongly associated with teacher commitment and sense of efficacy. (48 references) (MLH)
