Zhen, Li
Chinese Education and Society, v41 n4 p13-22 Jul-Aug 2008
In this article, the author investigates college students' volunteer teaching in Western China. A series of investigations were conducted in Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, and Xinjiang. The results showed that teaching by volunteer college students played a positive role in the development of local education and also solved a great number of problems. It added new energy to local education in the western region and achieved significant results. Several suggestions for improvement of the inservice period for volunteers are proposed.
