Aggression in Childhood and Long-Term Unemployment in Adulthood: A Cycle of Maladaptation and Some Protective Factors.
Kokko, Katja; Pulkkinen, Lea
Developmental Psychology, v36 n4 p463-72 Jul 2000
Examined risk mechanisms and protective factors in the relation between aggression in childhood and long-term adult unemployment among participants in the Jyvaskyla Longitudinal Study of Personality and Social Development. Found that aggression at 8 years predicted school maladjustment at age 14, which was related to unemployment. Child-centered parenting and prosocial tendencies lowered probability of aggressive children becoming long-term unemployed. (Author/KB)
