Psychological Aspects of Aging. Lesson Plan.
Parker, Barbara
This lesson plan is designed for a 50-minute class to teach adult caretakers of the aged about the psychological aspects of aging. The lesson is part of a course for caregivers in residential facilities and in home care. The lesson plan contains references, a list of equipment needed, objectives, information on how to set up the classroom, and the presentation. The presentation consists of an outline of instruction coordinated with methods of instruction, audiovisual aids, and the amount of time to be spent on each element. Transparency masters, student handouts, and a test are included. Topics covered in the lesson plan include the definitions of aging and psychological aging, six cognitive processes and age-related changes for each, and approaches to helping the elderly attain a maximum level of cognitive functioning.
