The Failed Social Legacy of Interpersonal Psychoanalysis.
Gold, Jerry
Race, Gender & Class, v9 n4 p147-57 2002
Reviews the unique contributions of Harry Stack Sullivan and Erich Fromm in synthesizing a psychoanalytic outlook with concern for political, economic, and social issues. Discusses some of the reasons why succeeding generations of interpersonal psychoanalysts have lost touch with these issues. Concludes with suggestions about how contemporary psychoanalysis might expand its vision to include the study of race, gender, and class issues. (SM)
