Kemp, Andy
Mathematics Teaching Incorporating Micromath, n203 p17-18 Jul 2007
"Geomlab" is a functional programming language used to describe pictures that are made up of tiles. The beauty of "Geomlab" is that it introduces students to recursion, a very powerful mathematical concept, through a very simple and enticing graphical environment. Alongside the software is a series of eight worksheets which lead into producing some very sophisticated images. In this article, the author describes how "Geomlab" can introduce pupils visually to the concept of recursion. (Contains 1 note and 1 online resources.)
