Paraeducator Professional Development Curriculum. Module I: Building an Effective Instructional Team Part One: Paraeducator Roles, Responsibilities, and Professional Ethics. Trainer's Manual
Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory NWREL
Module I provides paraeducators an opportunity to increase what they know about professional ethics and the appropriate roles and responsibilities of paraeducators. The module has been designed to address two goals: to develop an understanding of paraeducator professional and ethical standards; to develop a basic understanding of paraeducator roles and responsibilities as a member of an effective instructional team. This module examines the hiring qualifications mandated under Title I, Section 1119 of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Discussion of NCLB requirements of programs that include Title I and Title III provide a solid context for discussing professional ethics as well as how paraeducators must configure their roles and responsibilities to reflect those ethics.
