This catalog describes products--instructional programs and printed materials--developed with total or partial funding from the National Institute of Education that deal with reading and the language arts. A one-page summary describes each product and provides information on implementation requirements, services available, descriptors, target audience, materials and costs, assurances and claims, and contact. The products are classified according to three major categories: early childhood education, elementary education, and guides and training materials. A section on secondary education lists only three products, although products in other sections may be adapted for use with secondary students. A fifth section lists informational resources that may assist in the search for quality products and programs. The appendix explains the Research and Development Exchange, a government-sponsored effort to encourage closer interaction between the worlds of educational research and school practice. (GW)
