This book presents first-person accounts of 20 young female inventors. Most have won prizes for their inventions; some have even obtained patents. Part 1 "Inventors and Their Inventions," focuses on the young inventors and their lives, how they came up with their ideas, who helped them, what problems they faced, and how they solved their problems. Part 2, "How to Be An Inventor," works through the inventing process, from getting started to marketing an invention. Suggestions for practice in creative problem-solving and learning to keep an Inventor's Notebook are included. Part 3, "For Further Inspiration," presents facts about female inventors in history, quotations about inventing and creativity, and information about associations and organizations for inventors. (EH)
