Factors Influencing Applying for Urban Principalship.
Cooley, Van E.; Shen, Jianping
Education and Urban Society, v32 n4 p443-54 Aug 2000
Investigated teachers', principals', and superintendents' perspectives on factors that influence, increase, and retain urban principals. Teachers cited discordant relationships between the board, administrators, and teachers, and principals cited salaries commensurate with responsibilities as critical factors. Superintendents perceived elementary principals as the easiest to hire and keep. Respondents noted job stress and burnout impacted their applying for principalship positions. (SM)
