The Reaction between Iron(II) Iodide and Potassium Dichromate(VI) in Acidified Aqueous Solution
Talbot, Christopher
School Science Review, v95 n351 p13-14 Dec 2013
This "Science note" teaching lesson explores the possible reaction between the ions in a reaction mixture consisting of iron(II) iodide and potassium dichromate(VI) in acidified aqueous solution. The electrode potentials will be used to deduce any spontaneous reactions under standard thermodynamic conditions (298 K, 1 bar (approximately 1 atm) and 1 mol dm[superscript -3]). Only reactions with a positive cell potential will be spontaneous.
