This standard operations manual begins by describing the Student Career Introduction Program in Louisville, Kentucky, to acquaint economically disadvantaged students with careers in engineering, architecture, and accounting. Program activities and accomplishments during fiscal year 1984-86 are discussed. Other sections address the application process (school referral, screening, enrollment), site selection, and the three major parts of the program. These are pre-employment training, on-the-job training, and post-employment training (training at a college or university). Information is also provided on the monitoring system; publicity through the public school system, private industry council, and others; and funding. Attachments, amounting to over one-half of the manual, include forms (application, medical release, publicity permission, tax, time sheet, biweekly student intern work activity plan, employer evaluation of student, travel release, student evaluation of program), press releases, information for student participants, and class schedules.
