The King of Jordan's vision for education is resulting in innovative projects for the country. King Abdullah II wants Jordan to develop its human resources through public education to equip the workforce with skills for the future. From King Abdullah II's vision, the Education Reform for a Knowledge Economy (ERfKE) project implemented by the Ministry of Education (MoE) is expected to modernize the economy through four components: (1) Reorient educational policy objectives through governance and administrative reform; (2) Transform education programs and practices to achieve learning outcomes relevant to the knowledge economy; (3) Support the provision of quality learning environments; and (4) Promote readiness for learning for early childhood education. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), along with other world organizations, is supporting new schools and renovations for Jordan's ERfKE program. The USAID-Jordan Schools Project (USAID-JSP) addresses ERfKE's third component and contributes to the other components by providing schools with ample space that is safe, modern, and supplied with effective teaching resources. The project's objectives reduce classroom overcrowding, inappropriate rented facilities in poor conditions, double shifting, and provides capacity for increasing enrollment rates. It improves places that support student-centered learning.
