Indiana AIDS Prevention Plan, 1986. Version 1.0.
Indiana State Board of Health, Indianapolis.
The Indiana statewide Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) prevention plan focuses on community education efforts targeted for specific high risk groups as well as health care and other professionals. Plans are summarized for dissemination of information to the following groups: risk groups, physicians, dental health, nursing, ancillary health care workers, emergency medical services personnel, long-term health care workers, university and school personnel, and correctional system personnel. Additional topics discussed include AIDS in the workplace, AIDS among black/minority populations, perinatal transmission of AIDS, support to local community efforts, reporting practices, and screening. Indiana's plans for treatment services are described, and approaches to reducing high-risk behavior are discussed. Appendices consisting of article reprints and copies of guidelines and regulations comprise over half the document. They include "AIDS on Campus: Emerging Issues for College and University Administrators," by Sheldon Elliot Steinbach; "Policy for School and Work Attendance by University Students or Employees with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome," prepared by Dennis L. Madson; "Communicable Disease Regulation HCD-33, State of Indiana"; "Guidelines for Children with AIDS/ARC Attending School"; and definitions of AIDS and ARC (AIDS-Related Complex). (JW)
