Master Plan and Inventory of Programs for the California Community Colleges.
California Community Colleges, Sacramento. Office of the Chancellor.
The number and distribution of all academic and vocational programs offered in California community colleges in the academic years 1971-72 through 1977-78 are presented according to major Classification of Instructional Disciplines (CID) groupings. The program areas covered are agriculture and natural resources, architecture and environmental design, regional studies, biological sciences, business and management, communications, computer and information science, education, engineering and related fields, fine and applied arts, foreign languages, health services, home economics, law, letters, library science, mathematics, military studies, physical sciences, psychology, public affairs and services, social sciences, commercial services, interdisciplinary studies, and apprenticeship. In 1977-78 the largest number of programs was offered in engineering and related fields, and in business and management (the latter accounted for 17.7% of all new programs). Pre-Proposition 13 projections, which did not take into account limitations on local property tax funds available for community college support, indicated that the number of new programs was expected to be 1,851 by 1984, which would increase the 1977-78 figure by 24.9%. Charts list all existing, deleted, and planned programs at the state's 104 community colleges and whether each program is certificate or degree. (DR)
