ECG Monitoring in Cardiac Rehabilitation: Is It Needed?
Greenland, Philip; Pomilla, Paul V.
Physician and Sportsmedicine, v17 n2 p75-79,81-82 Feb 1989
Discusses the controversial use of continuous electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring as a safety measure in cardiac rehabilitation exercise programs. Little evidence substantiates its value for all patients during exercise. In the absence of empirical evidence documenting the worth of this expensive procedure, it is recommended for use with high-risk patients only. (SM)
