The Learning Organization Implemented in Education through Advisory Committees
Davis, Jason Lee; Davis, Harley
Education, v130 n1 p114-117 Fall 2009
Advisory committees have an established history as effective leadership components to assist in planning and evaluating vocational programs and in establishing communication links between institutions and communities. Authorities in the concepts of learning teams, such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Peter Senge, Harvard Business School's David Garvin, and Johnson and Johnson's James DeVito, have identified activities and principles that build synergy within teams. Through the incorporation of learning team concepts into the operational framework of these committees, the leadership role of advisory committees can be broadened and strengthened to better support the mission in all aspects of the institution as a learning organization.
