Gathered are statements of copyright and patent policies in effect at 13 universities. In some cases policies concerning publication and sponsored research are included. The statements are reproduced exactly as received from the institutions, without interpretation. The universities participating are: Boston University (Massachusetts); California Institute of Technology; Cornell University (New York); Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Purdue University (Indiana); The Rockefeller University (New York); University of California; University of Connecticut; University of Georgia; University of Pennsylvania; University of Southern California; University of Virginia; and Washington University (Missouri). Supplements dated 1978 from the Administrative Service bulletin, entitled"Survey of Institutional Patent Policies and Patent Administration" and "Patents at Colleges and Universities," are included. The first summarizes results of a 1977 survey by the Society of University Patent Administrators. The second is a brief state-of-the-art statement on the nature and scope of research and the elements and issues of technology transfer. (MSE)
