Five feature articles include: (1) "New Rules: The Canadian Health Care System in Flux" (Lawrence J. Nestman), which comments on the changing Canadian health care system and the implications for Canadian families; (2) "Help at Your Doorstep," which provides excerpts from a new booklet on home health care; (3) "Health Promotion--A Family Affair" (Louise Potvin and Kathy Eisner), which looks at the role of health promotion and prevention in maintaining healthy families; (4) "Canada's Children and Their Families" (Denise Avard), which provides demographic information on child health and poverty and suggestions for improving the health of Canada's children; (5) Palliative Care Focuses on Families, which deals with providing comfort not cures for a dying patient and his/her family; (6) "Vanier Institute of the Family Annual Review, 1994," which reviews the institute's activities over the past year. Other brief articles and columns address child poverty, teenage drug use, new leadership at Family Service Canada, human rights in Canada, and recent publications related to family issues. (MDM)
