In an age of Internet education, what does it mean for a tenure/tenure-track faculty to have a web page? How many professors have web pages? If they have a page, what does it look like? Do they really need a web page at all? Many universities have faculty web pages. What do those collective pages look like? In what way do they represent the faculty and the university? In this article, the author presents a study that determines how many tenure/tenure-track faculty, according to their rank, department affiliation, average years of service, and gender, actually had a usable web page that was, additionally, compliant with Section 508 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, federal legislation that requires that electronic and information technology provided by federal executive agencies must be accessible by persons with disabilities.
