Vision Problems and Their Relation to Learning, Working, Living and Health.
Vodnoy, Bernard E.
Presented is an abstract of a lecture-workshop presentation on vision problems and their relation to learning, working, living, and health. Areas covered by the author in his lecture are outlined as including the essential tests of the primary vision examination; the value of testing depth perception at the reading distance; the testing and care of visual defects not correctable by glasses; and the need for laboratory courses in vision in the schools. Included are a sample form for reporting results of an eye, vision, and visual perception examination and a list of definitions for terms used in vision testing and training. A chapter on the practice of orthoptics and related subjects taken from the author's textbook makes up more than half of the document and includes information on such topics as the effects of visual handicaps on learning, the practice of refraction, and the abolishment of "quickie" eye care.
