The Health-Preserving Activity of the Schools
Naumenko, Iu. V.
Russian Education and Society, v48 n8 p6-19 Aug 2006
This article begins with an analysis of a 1987 report by a research group of the World Health Organization [WHO] of the United Nations General Assembly, under the heading "The Health of Young People Is the Concern of Society." The author discusses the "Schools of Health" project, as well as the "Health-Promoting School" project. Among other things, the author presents three areas of health-preserving activity that have come to be formed: (1) the school as a center of education and health; (2) the school as an educational center that preserves the health of its students; and (3) the adaptive school as an educational center with a social psychological orientation.
