Opioid Antagonist Impedes Exposure.
Merluzzi, Thomas V.; And Others
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v59 n3 p425-30 Jun 1991
Thirty spider-phobic adults underwent exposure to 17 phobic-related, graded performance tests. Fifteen subjects were assigned to naltrexone, an opioid antagonist, and 15 were assigned to placebo. Naltrexone had a significant effect on exposure, with naltrexone subjects taking significantly longer to complete first 10 steps of exposure and with significantly more of naltrexone subjects being unable to complete treatment.
