Internet Guide for College-Bound Students.
Hartman, Kenneth E.
At the start of 1996, nearly three-quarters of the colleges in the United States were on the Internet. By 1999, all collegiate institutions are expected to be online. This book is designed to give students routes to World Wide Web sites that can help them choose a college, find out about financial aid and scholarships, exchange information with other students, contact college administrators and faculty, apply to college online, and explore majors and careers. This guide for college-bound students includes the following chapters: (1) "Setting Out on the Internet"; (2) "Basic Facts About the Internet"; (3) "World Wide Web - One Stop Shopping for College Information"; (4) "E-Mail - Communicating with the World on the Web"; (5) "Other College Web Sites To Check Out"; (6) "Financial Aid Facts and Sources on the Net"; (7) "Putting Your College Search in Perspective"; and (8) "Choosing a Major and Building a Career Network on the Net." Appendices include top sites for college searches on the Web, online information and advice about majors and careers, guidelines for finding college home pages, financial aid information, and useful off-campus Web sites. A glossary is appended. (JLS)
