Faced with teacher shortages in some subject areas, a New Jersey district developed a comprehensive approach to increase the candidate pool, select superior candidates, and retain them once hired. Innovations include advertising on the Internet, accepting online applications, and encouraging students and nontraditional candidates to enter teaching. (MLH)
