This competency-based curriculum for child care occupations is composed of 30 tasks. For each task, the following information is provided: task title, task number, behavioral objectives, required resources, learning activities with required resources and/or assignments, and recommended student evaluation. Topics covered include participation in the Latch Key Program, writing lesson plans, achieving objectives in a lesson plan, teaching responsibilities (snacks, bulletin boards), laboratory experience, child care aide, behavior, motivation related to behavior, communicating effectively with small children, disciplining children, teaching activities to children, child care settings, developing creative activities for children, evaluating play equipment, child nutrition, and child health. A bibliography and list of resources keyed to the learning activities are attached. The list of resources consist of materials that would need to be developed by the teacher and that are not included in this document. (YLB)
