Nuclear Science.
Pennsylvania State Dept. of Education, Harrisburg. Bureau of Curriculum Services.
This document is a report on a course in nuclear science for the high school curriculum. The course is designed to provide a basic but comprehensive understanding of the atom in the light of modern knowledge, and to show how people attempt to harness the tremendous energy liberated through fission and fusion reactions. The course crosses what are considered the normal disciplines of science, entering into the three basic fields (biology, chemistry, physics). The document includes sections on laboratory safety and health physics, sources of radioisotope licensing, textbooks and references, equipment, types of students taking the course, an outline of the course of study and its units, laboratory experiments and techniques, and a list of teaching aids. The Appendix contains the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Rules and Regulations. (GA)
