Report on Junior College Funding.

This report summarizes enrollment, costs, and funding information for North Idaho College (NIC) and the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) for 1972 and 1977, explores new options for the future, and presents academic and vocational division funding information and capital construction data. Academic student enrollment at NIC increased 35% between 1972 and 1977; vocational student enrollment increased 51%. At CSI, academic and vocational student enrollments increased 22.7% and 63% respectively. Projections for the next two years indicate additional overall enrollment rises of 23.6% at NIC and 24% at CSI. Per campus enrollment by state school district is charted. In 1977, college funds were generated from the following sources (at NIC and CSI, respectively): student fees, 16% and 9%; local property taxes, 18% and 20%; county liquor appropriations, 2% and 3%; state aid, 51% and 52%; federal grants, 1% and 0%. Information on sources of additional revenues, notably property tax by county, is provided. Tables present unrestricted funds statistics, assessed valuation of college areas, and tuition information. State laws pertaining to junior colleges and the liquor fund are appended. (TR)
