Energy and Power Technology. Curriculum Guide.
North Dakota State Board for Vocational Education, Bismarck.
One of a set of six guides for an industrial arts curriculum at the junior high school level, this guide provides the basic foundation to develop a one-semester course based on the cluster concept, energy and power technology. The guide suggests manipulative and experimental student-conducted activities or teacher demonstrations which focus on the socioeconomic and environmental impact of energy usage and the safety, efficiency, and occupational aspects inherent in the energy/power (E/P) field. Following an introduction covering rationale, cluster outline and objectives, and cluster taxonomic structure, seven units are presented: introductory concepts, safety concepts, energy forms and sources, energy harnessing systems and Newton's Laws, E/P transmission and control, E/P utilization, and E/P career opportunities. Each unit includes unit objectives, student competencies and related student activities, unit outline, and where applicable, illustrations and information sheets. (SH)
