The New World Information Order. [Commission Document] 31.
Masmoudi, Mustapha
One of a series prepared for the International Commission for the Study of Communication of Unesco, this report elucidates the principal reasons supporting reform of the international information system. Following an introduction that outlines the role of information in developing countries and explains why the current media are inadequate, the report is divided into three sections. The first section discusses the political, legal, and technical/financial aspects of the need for a new information system. The second section explains the New World Information Order and how it is to be established from political, legal, and technical and financial viewpoints. The third section examines measures to be taken by industrialized and developing countries and at the international level to establish a new world economic order, as well as how the media can assist this endeavor through the revised information order. A brief conclusion examines the feasibility of such an information order. (HTH)
