The Changing Face of Professional Development
Branom, Vaughn
School Library Monthly, v29 n1 p17-19 Sep-Oct 2012
Learning is a constant in today's library world. Not only the students who use the school libraries, but the adults who facilitate the learning progress of these students are enticed, encouraged, and yes, sometimes, even forced to learn new things at alarming rates. Professional development (PD) must occur regularly in order to keep the library program moving forward. Because of the changing face of the library program, traditional forms of PD are often obsolete and must change and adapt in tandem with the library program. Careful planning and attention to detail will create a successful PD transformation for the participants involved. The selection of unconventional timelines, social networking, and a bit of play will make the experience all the better for individuals involved in today's library world.
