Gass, Michael A., Comp.; And Others
The collection summarizes for educators 23 of the 32 workshops presented at the 1985 Northeast Association for Experiential Education Conference. Highlights of the conference included construction of an indoor yurt, ropes course building, and an innovative workshop on experiential astronomy. Workshops dealt with such topics as experiential learning with clinically dependent, disadvantaged, emotionally disturbed, and at-risk children and youth, experiential education in the classroom, wilderness education programs, ropes courses, the Educational Technologies Database, starting an independent experiential education center, getting a job in outdoor programs, leadership experiences for high school students, Canada's Opcan Katimavik volunteer organization, an experiential educator's walk through Central America, neuro-linguistic programming, and experiential learning for urban minority students. An eight-page sourcebook used in the astronomy workshop, blueprints for a yurt, and a sample Outdoor Leadership Ability Statement are among the supplemental materials included. Bibliographies and resource addresses accompany many of the workshop summaries. (LFL)
